Phi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. was established on March 21st 1977 and as part of our ongoing efforts foster self-empowerment and promote superior scholarship amongst young black men in our community, our Fraternity established the Bootstrap Scholarship Fund. This is one medium through which our Fraternity seeks to fulfill our mandate of enriching and improving the lives of those around us. It is also a means of paying tribute to our Founding Fathers. Each year we honor one of our Founders by designating these Scholarships in one of their names.

Phi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. will provide a book stipend that will be paid directly to each recipient’s student account at the college that they are enrolled in at the beginning of the fall semester.

These scholarships are not exclusive to only those students with superior academic performance. We envision the program as being an incentive for all students to attend college. Phi Delta Psi creates connections with local schools in close proximity to chapters in every state. We then choose recipients for the bootstrap scholarship from these pools of high school students.

Phi Delta Psi hosts a short ceremony in each school at an function in front of the entire school body where we provide each recipient with a certificate commemorating this award.
